What you'll do The Business Banker is an essential member of the Business Banking team, responsible for driving member relationships and growth. This role focuses on supporting and expanding relationships with Canvas Credit Union’s business members who maintain an aggregate balance of $100,000 or more in loans and deposits. The Business Banker provides financial expertise and personalized solutions to meet the unique needs of these members, including business lending products, deposit accounts, and cash management services. Working closely with existing & new members, the Business Banker deepens relationships while partnering with our Retail Engagement team to identify opportunities, manage referrals, and deliver tailored business banking solutions. Acting as a trusted advisor, this role reviews financial information, credit reports, and business models to recommend strategies that help members achieve their financial goals.

Manage and grow relationships with business members by identifying opportunities for business products and services, including loans, lines of credit, cash management solutions, and business deposit products.

Develop a deep understanding of members’ financial needs through analysis of personal and business financial data, relationship reviews, and member meetings to deliver integrated financial solutions.

Partner closely with the Retail Engagement team and branch network to identify opportunities, manage referrals, and deliver business banking solutions.

Proactively call current business members to perform account check-ins and discuss new opportunities, products, and services that can support their financial goals.

Oversee and manage the branch referral pipeline, qualifying inquiries for loans, deposits, and treasury management services, and providing resources to meet member needs.

Serve as the subject matter expert for business banking, acting as an internal resource for team members across the Credit Union.

Achieve individual monthly production and growth goals for business banking deposits, cash management services, and loans to support the Credit Union’s overall financial and member experience objectives.

Deliver exceptional service and professionalism, consistently demonstrating Canvas Core Values in every interaction with internal, external, and prospective members.

Research and resolve member issues promptly and professionally, ensuring a positive experience.

Support organizational goals and initiatives and compliance with all policies and procedures.

Ensure compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and other regulatory requirements.

Follow safety and security guidelines to safeguard member and organizational assets.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and filing systems.

Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the role.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Maintain NMLS registration under the S.A.F.E. Act of 2008, including passing background and credit checks as required.

Successfully complete pre-employment screening, including drug testing and comprehensive background checks (criminal, employment, address, SSN, motor vehicle record, global sanctions, and sex offender).

Job Qualifications Knowledge, Skill and Ability:

Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain programs, deposit accounts, features, and benefits while effectively overcoming objections from members and business partners.

Preferred experience with business lending solutions, deposit products, and cash management services.

Experienced in analyzing financial statements, tax returns, and credit reports to assess business health, identify risks, and determine creditworthiness.

Proven experience in sales and financial services, including strong negotiation, prospecting abilities, and solid understanding of accounting and finance principles.

Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain strong, long-term relationships with business members.

Ability to identify and respond to business member needs, consistently recommending Canvas products and services that align with their financial goals and values.

Proven success in building strong member relationships and new business development

Ability to actively listen and understand the financial needs of businesses and commercial borrowers, providing tailored recommendations and presenting Canvas products that align with their goals.

Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Comprehensive knowledge of Canvas financial products and services.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Must hold and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license and provide proof of insurance.

Education or Formal Training: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

Experience: Minimum of two years of business banking, sales and credit related experience.

Working Environment/Physical Activities High volume, fast-paced, dynamic office environment with moderate local travel. Must be able to attend meetings and events outside of regular business hours. The job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, copiers, fax machines and filing cabinets. The position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files and open filing cabinets. The position requires bending, stooping, or standing, as necessary.
