The
Purchasing Associate - Level 1
is responsible for purchasing goods for the company in an efficient and economical manner following established policies and procedures in processing purchase orders. Responsibilities: Follow company’s policies and procedures for the purchase of goods and services. Follow policies and procedures established by the Hydraquip President, and monitors approval of purchasing requisitions. Make certain that purchasing documents are completed properly and the terms and conditions of purchase are appropriate. Keep accurate records, including price histories and any problems in doing business with particular vendors. Work closely with Coordinators and sales representatives scheduling production to maintain an appropriate level of inventory. Carry out all duties and responsibilities in an ethical and conscientious manner. Support and participate in the organization’s continual improvement program and conform to ISO 9001 requirements by complying with the Quality Policy and procedures and meeting Quality Management System objectives. Responsible for a select number of product lines. Training existing and new employees. Other duties as assigned. Requirements EDUCATION AND TRAINING High school diploma, GED, or equivalent secondary education. EXPERIENCE Over five (5) years of experience in purchasing, distribution or related field. Education as described above may be accepted in lieu of experience. Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment is considered a plus. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Able to read, interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and produce manuals. Able to write routine reports and correspondence. Able to speak effectively before groups of customers, vendors, and groups of customers and employees of organization. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, fractions, and percentages. Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and correspondence. Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
