
Grant Writer — Nonprofit Mobile Food Pantry (Westchester County, Putnam County, NY and Fairfield County, CT)
Part-Time/Freelance
Westchester-based nonprofit mobile food pantry seeks an organized, detail-oriented, and experienced Grant Writer to support our fundraising efforts on a part-time basis. This role will consist primarily of researching, writing, and submitting LOIs, grant proposals, and preparing follow-up reports for funders.
About Us Founded in 1997, we are a community-focused mobile food pantry dedicated to improving access to healthy food access for underserved populations across southeastern New York and Connecticut. Our work is grassroots, fast-moving, and impact-driven.
Responsibilities
Research prospective grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and governmental sources
Track deadlines and submission requirements
Write and submit compelling cover letters, grant proposals, and letters of inquiry
Collaborate with leadership to gather program data, budgets, and impact stories
Prepare accurate and timely grant reports and follow-up documentation
Maintain organized records of submissions and outcomes
Qualifications
Proven experience writing successful grant proposals for nonprofits
Strong research, writing, and editing skills
Highly organized, with attention to detail, and strong deadline management
Comfortable working independently on a freelance basis
Experience with food security, hunger relief, or community-based nonprofits is a plus
Familiarity with Salesforce and other common grant databases preferred
Details
Part-time, freelance/contract role
Flexible hours with deadline-based deliverables
Remote work, with preference for candidates in the vicinity of southeastern NY/CT
Compensation based on experience (hourly or per-project)
