We are currently hiring for 2nd shift primarily located on our East Peoria campus. Our campus police officers may occasionally work on the other Illinois Central College campuses as needed.****Essential Functions:***This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive. Some incumbents may not perform all the duties listed while in other cases related duties may also be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.*1. Patrol, inspect, and secure campus buildings and grounds.2. Investigate and report incidents and unusual conditions relating to the safety of the campus community.3. Respond immediately to emergency situations and take appropriate action to protect life and property.4. Exercise sworn law enforcement duties as an armed police officer as authorized by 110 ILCS 805/3-42.1, the Illinois Police Training Act, 50 ILCS 705/, to include arrest powers and the lawful use of force.5. Inspect and assist in the testing of fire control and alarm systems.6. Maintain effective working relationships with local police, fire and emergency services agencies.7. Enforce college behavioral and parking regulations.8. Direct and control traffic and provide crowd control and security during special events and as required.9. Investigate and report complaints and traffic crashes.10. Work shifts as assigned to provide daily 24-hour service.11. Perform assigned security and safety-related duties.12. Assume responsibilities for exercising initial command and control at scenes of emergencies.13. Perform other duties as assigned.**Minimum Qualifications:***The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.*1. High school diploma or equivalent.2. At least twenty-one (21) years of age.3. Citizen of the United States.4. Valid driver's license and satisfy requirements for insurability in operating college vehicles.5. Graduate of a full or part-time Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board Certified Law Enforcement Basic Training Course.6. Meets minimum requirements for hire as established under the Illinois Public Community College Act, (110 ILCS 805/3-42.1) and the Illinois Police Training Act, (50 ILCS 705).7. Successful completion of the Illinois Central College Field Training Program. 8. Successful completion of a polygraph examination and/or psychological evaluation, which may be waived if candidate has completed previously.9. Applicant must be eligible to receive a waiver of Minimum Training Standards from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board.10. Maintain composure under stressful and adverse conditions.11. Strong verbal and written communication skills.12. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.**Preferred Qualifications:**1. College degree, preferably Law Enforcement or Criminal Justice related field.2.
