
Director of Finance
Salary: $190,000 - $240,000
The Director of Finance is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the financial health, sustainability, and compliance of the organization. This individual will lead all financial operations, provide strategic financial guidance to executive leadership and the Board, and ensure strong internal controls and reporting practices aligned with nonprofit best practices. This role is a mix of Accounting and FPA.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy
Serve as a strategic financial partner to the Executive Director and Board of Directors
Develop and manage annual budgets in collaboration with department leaders
Provide financial forecasting, scenario planning, and long-term sustainability analysis
Present clear and accurate financial reports to leadership and the Board
Accounting & Financial Operations Oversee general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and cash flow management Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closes Maintain compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards Manage annual audit and act as primary liaison with external auditors
Grants & Compliance Oversee financial reporting for grants, contracts, and restricted funds Ensure compliance with federal, state, and funder financial requirements Support grant budgeting and reporting in partnership with program staff
Internal Controls & Systems Establish and maintain strong internal controls and financial policies Improve financial systems, processes, and reporting tools as needed Supervise finance staff and external vendors as applicable
Qualifications Required Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. CPA 10+ years of progressive finance or accounting experience Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting, budgeting, and compliance Experience presenting financial information to senior leadership and Boards
Preferred Experience working with grants and government funding Familiarity with financial software (Oracle a big plus!)
