SegPay is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced professional to join our team as an Underwriting Specialist - Ecommerce. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient onboarding of new ecommerce merchants onto our global payment platform, while adhering to all SegPay policies and regulations.
You will play a critical role in protecting SegPay and our merchants from fraud and financial risk. You will conduct thorough due diligence on merchant applications, including website reviews, CDD, AML checks, and PEP/Sanction screening, and provide ongoing monitoring to ensure compliance. You will be comfortable making risk-based decisions independently and working with minimal supervision.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a proven track record in high-risk ecommerce merchant acquiring and a deep understanding of card scheme regulations. What You'll Do:
Conduct risk-based review of merchant applications in line with company acceptance policies and regulations
Review merchant websites for compliance with company and card scheme requirements
Conduct CDD and AML checks, PEP/Sanction screening, etc using internal and third-party tools
Ensure merchant files are complete, accurate and up to date
Liaise directly with the Account Management team to ensure all necessary merchant information and KYC documentation is collected
Ensure merchants are onboarded efficiently
Liaising with Acquiring Partners for any queries relating to Merchant Onboarding, Merchant account changes and terminations
Conduct ODD review of existing merchants
Provide feedback to continually improve processes
Review daily exception reports, identify and investigate any anomalies and escalate findings
Assist team members and other departments by sharing knowledge and expertise of underwriting, risk and onboarding
Perform other duties and projects as assigned
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of experience in ecommerce adult merchant acquiring
Understanding of card scheme rules and requirements
Knowledge of CDD and AML regulations
Critical and analytical thinker with strong attention to detail
Decision maker using a risk based approach
Ability to identify, analyse, escalate, and resolve problems/issues
Efficient time management skills
Proactive and goal-oriented self-starter
Fluent English speaker possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills
Capacity to work independently with minimal direction as well as being a strong team player
Excellent computer skills
SQL Server experience (a plus)
