We are currently seeking a Senior Architectural Associate with 5–10+ years of experience to join our Commercial Team in our Sarasota, Florida office. This position requires an experienced, well-rounded, and highly productive professional who is confident in both technical execution and team leadership. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPECTATIONS

Professional degree in Architecture, Design, or a related discipline

510+ years of professional architectural experience, preferably in residential projects

Experience across all phases of project delivery, from concept through construction administration

Strong knowledge of building codes, specifications, building systems, and engineering coordination

Advanced proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Lumion

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Highly organized, detailoriented, and solutionsfocused

Demonstrated willingness and ability to mentor and guide junior staff

Collaborative, professional, and accountable work ethic

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Consistently execute all aspects of the design process, addressing project complexity while contributing proactively to team success and upholding MHK’s standards of design excellence

Coordinate and oversee project documentation, construction plans, and details, ensuring quality control and timely completion on small to midscale projects

Provide technical BIM leadership, documentation coordination, and direction of project team assignments

Lead coordination efforts with consultants and oversee constructability considerations

Develop creative and innovative design concepts as an integral member of the design team

Evaluate and integrate engineering systems and perform code, accessibility, lifesafety, and zoning analyses

Prepare and execute applicable agency review materials (DRB, site plan applications, and similar approvals)

Conduct and document field observations to monitor construction progress and quality

Manage tasks efficiently to meet project schedules and budgets in an organized and consistent manner

Serve as a primary client contact, when requested, while coordinating effectively with internal teams, consultants, and contractors

Research products and materials and assist in selection and specification development

Take an active role in developing client and internal design presentations and supporting materials

Apply advanced knowledge of planning, programming, and design principles and methods

Understand and respond to the technical implications of design decisions

Prepare and review reports, specifications, plans, cost estimates, and calculations

Take increasing ownership of project responsibilities and studio initiatives

Mentor, support, and empower junior staff to encourage growth and development

Manage and mentor staff as assigned

Foster an approachable, collaborative environment with open communication across project teams and studio leadership
