GENERAL SUMMARY The Director of Consumer Lending is a key leadership role responsible for driving the success of NIHFCU’s consumer lending operations. Reporting to the Vice President of Lending, this individual will oversee the full lending lifecycle—from application through servicing—with a focus on loan growth, credit quality, operational excellence, and member satisfaction. This is a hands‑on leadership position requiring strategic vision, process optimization skills, and a passion for coaching high‑performing teams.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain a strong understanding of the consumer lending market and identify opportunities to introduce new products, enhance existing offerings, or retire underperforming products.

Monitor consumer market trends and competitor activity to support the development and launch of competitive, profitable lending solutions.

Develop and execute strategies to achieve loan growth, profitability, and efficiency, aligned with NIHFCU’s strategic goals.

Lead and manage the day‑to‑day operations of the Consumer Lending Department, ensuring seamless loan origination, decisioning, processing, funding, and servicing.

Design and implement workflows that maximize productivity, loan quality, and member experience.

Lead initiatives to improve the automation and efficiency in the consumer loan origination process, with a focus on increasing auto‑decisioning rates and optimizing the capabilities of the Loan Origination System to support accurate, scalable, data‑driven lending.

Foster a proactive, high‑performing sales and service culture. Monitor lead conversion rates and cross‑sell performance of loans and ancillary products.

Set and track team and individual performance goals using data dashboards and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point for complex loan scenarios and promote solution‑oriented thinking among team members.

Serve as a project lead on initiatives related to new consumer loan products, services, and system enhancements.

Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and internal policies, proactively updating guidelines, policies and procedures as needed.

Develop and coach staff through mentoring, delegation, performance management, and ongoing training to build a knowledgeable, service‑driven team.

Manage personnel functions, including performance reviews, improvement plans, coaching, and cross‑training.

Champion a culture of exceptional service, ensuring timely resolution of escalated loan issues and continuous process improvement.

Research, recommend, and implement policies and procedures that meet regulatory and business requirements.

Respond to audit and regulatory exam findings, driving corrective actions and continuous improvement.

Oversee student lending programs, rates and vendor relationship with CU Student Choice.
