
An Instructional Designer position is available at Garney Construction in
North Kansas City, MO . The Instructional Designer will develop effective and engaging learning solutions by applying adult learning principles to analyze needs, define objectives, and create comprehensive learning content. This role supports e-learning, in-person, virtual, and hybrid training formats. Success requires close collaboration with subject matter experts (SMEs) and ownership of the full training lifecycle, from needs assessment and design through development, implementation, and evaluation of learning effectiveness across the organization.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Assess learning needs and gaps to define clear learning objectives and outcomes.
Apply adult learning principles to design effective learning experiences.
Develop comprehensive curricula, courses, and learning plans for virtual, in-person, hybrid, and e-learning formats.
Create interactive and accessible learning materials to maximize learner engagement and retention.
Partner with subject matter experts (SMEs), technical teams, and leaders to ensure content accuracy and alignment with organizational goals.
Translate technical and specialized content into clear, concise, and engaging learning experiences.
Manage learning projects from initial concept through completion, including timelines and deliverables.
Analyze the effectiveness of learning materials and programs.
Update and refine content based on feedback, outcomes, and organizational needs.
Train facilitators, employees, or team members on new learning technologies and instructional tools.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
Ability to develop learning content across in-person, virtual, hybrid, and e-learning environments.
Experience collaborating with SMEs to develop accurate and engaging training materials.
Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in instructional design, education, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience creating curriculum across in-person, virtual, hybrid, and e-learning formats.
