The Comms Associate will help support the Comms Lead and Comms Director for Capital Programs by coordinating with team members and subconsultants, and ensuring all external and internal communications meet requirements set forth by the MARTA client. Communications/Public Involvement efforts will focus on MARTA’s capital improvement programs and expansion projects.
Responsible for the creation of a diverse range of materials, including informative fact sheets, eye‑catching posters, compelling flyers, attention‑grabbing advertisements, and clear signage
Additionally, this role involves producing engaging content for websites and social media platforms. The process includes coordinating graphic design efforts, ensuring accurate translation of materials, managing printing logistics, and overseeing the distribution of these promotional items to reach key audiences effectively
Play a pivotal role in the planning, support, and execution of stakeholder and public meetings and events. This encompasses crafting and sending out formal invitations, meticulous logistics planning, contracting suitable event spaces, and preparing collateral materials for distribution. The organization of space layout is also critical; this includes strategically positioning displays and tables, accommodating ADA requirements, arranging accessible parking, and ensuring the availability of necessary supplies to create a welcoming environment for all attendees
Engage actively with Communications and Public Engagement consultants to foster collaboration and ensure that project objectives are met. This involves regular communication and coordination to align strategies and messaging for maximum impact
Attend and engage in internal project meetings to collect critical updates from various teams, while also providing valuable insights regarding ongoing communications and public involvement initiatives. This ensures that all stakeholders are informed and aligned
Take the lead in gathering data, drafting, and distributing online newsletters and other communications to stakeholders. This includes creating informative content that keeps audiences engaged and informed about MARTA initiatives and services
Committed to continuously identifying opportunities to enhance MARTA’s brand presence and boost ridership. This includes implementing innovative strategies and initiatives that not only serve the needs of MARTA clients but also promote a positive image and experience for all users of the transit system
Here’s what you’ll need
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Communications, Planning, Marketing, or a closely related field, demonstrating a solid foundation in effective communication strategies and outreach methods
At least 3 years of professional experience in Communications and Public Outreach, with a strong preference for candidates who have worked in the transportation infrastructure sector, showcasing an understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within this domain
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating proficiency in both MLA and AP style formats, ensuring consistency and clarity in all communications
A genuine enthusiasm for engaging with the public, combined with the ability to connect meaningfully with citizens from a wide array of backgrounds and perspectives, fostering inclusive dialogue and community involvement
Advanced computing skills, proficient in MS Word and PowerPoint, as well as experience with collaborative software tools such as MS Teams and SharePoint, enabling seamless communication and project collaboration
Exceptional organizational, planning, and time-management abilities; detail-oriented and driven by deadlines, thriving in high-pressure environments while adeptly managing multiple tasks and adapting to rapidly changing priorities; recognized for innovative problem-solving skills
Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, allowing for the creation of visually appealing and professional-quality marketing materials and presentations
