
Director of Human Resources - Chick-fil-A Westfield/Carmel at Greyhound Pass
Position Title: Director of Human Resources
Department: Leadership / People Operations
Reports To: Operator / Owner
Status: Full-Time, Salaried
Compensation: $60,000 annually
Role Purpose
The Director of Human Resources is responsible for building, protecting, and elevating the team member experience across the restaurant. This role ensures we hire well, onboard with excellence, develop leaders intentionally, and handle people matters with clarity, consistency, and care.
This is a hands-on, culture-shaping leadership role that partners closely with the Operator and Directors to help the restaurant thrive operationally and relationally.
Key Responsibilities
1. Hiring & Onboarding
- Own and improve the full hiring lifecycle
- Ensure proper documentation, I-9s, and compliance
- Help with orientation and onboarding processes with Employee Experience Leader.
- Partner with leaders to forecast staffing needs
2. Performance Management Support coaching conversations and documentation - Ensure fair evaluations and feedback - Assist with performance improvement plans - Serve as a neutral conflict-resolution partner 3. Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with labor laws - Maintain confidential personnel files - Advise leadership on corrective actions and terminations Lead all terminations and provide correct guidance Coordinate with EPLI - Protect the business through consistent documentation 4. State, Federal & Regulatory Matters
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all state and federal agencies
- Manage unemployment claims, wage claims, workers' compensation matters, and labor inquiries
- Coordinate documentation for audits, investigations, and site visits
- Partner with legal counsel, payroll providers, and insurance carriers
- Ensure timely, accurate responses to all claims and communications
- Maintain organized records related to claims and resolutions
5. Leadership Support & Development
- Partner with Directors and Supervisors to strengthen leadership effectiveness
- Assist with succession planning and leadership pipeline development
- Reinforce standards, values, and expectations
Qualifications
3+ years of HR or people leadership experience preferred (restaurant/hospitality preferred) SHRM certification or willing to obtain one - Strong communication and emotional intelligence - High integrity and discretion - Organized and proactive - Comfortable partnering with ownership Why This Role Matters
