Job Description
The Social Media & Content Coordinator is responsible for creating engaging, timely, and visually compelling content across the OUCP’s social media platforms. This role captures photos and videos at events, produces live video content, designs simple graphics, and helps tell the organization’s story in an authentic and consistent way. Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Engagement Strategy, this position is a vital component of the marketing team in helping to increase engagement, visibility, and brand awareness of the office and the university.
$24.00 per hour
Working Conditions
Combination of flexible office hours and on-site event coverage
Occasional evening or weekend hours required
Some standing, walking, and carrying light equipment during events
Responsibilities Social Media Management
Manages day-to-day social media posting across platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn (as applicable)
Develops and schedules content that aligns with OUCP’s and university’s goals, campaigns, and events
Monitors comments, messages, and engagement, escalating issues as needed
Photo & Video Content Creation
Captures high-quality photos and short-form videos at events, meetings, and programs
Creates live video content during events (e.g., Instagram Live, Facebook Live)
Edits photos and videos for social media use, ensuring brand consistency
Graphics & Visual Content
Assists with designing graphics for social media posts, stories, and event promotion
Adapts templates and brand assets for consistent visual presentation
Collaborates on campaign & event visuals
Event Coverage
Attends on-site events to provide real-time social media coverage
Plans content in advance for key events
Works with event planning staff to identify key moments and storytelling opportunities
Strategy & Reporting
Assists in developing social media content calendars
Tracks basic analytics and performance metrics (reach, engagement, video views, etc.)
Provides recommendations to improve content performance and audience growth
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism or related field of study
Experience managing social media accounts for higher education or a community organization
Strong photography and video skills using a smartphone and/or camera
Comfort hosting or supporting live video content
Basic graphic design skills using tools such as Canva, Adobe Express, or Adobe Creative Suite
Strong writing skills with an understanding of tone and platform best practices
Ability to work evenings or weekends occasionally for event coverage
Preferred Skills
Experience with social media scheduling and analytics tools
Knowledge of current social media trends and best practices
Ability to work independently in fast-paced, live-event environments
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
