
Financial Aid Technical Administrator

Position: Financial Service Technical Administrator (Remote)
Position Status: Non-exempt (12 month full-time position)
Work Hours: Monday through Friday days
Reports To: Financial Aid Director
Location: Remote (Orchard Park, NY)
Position Summary The successful Financial Aid Technical Administrator will:
Provide a high level of support for Financial Aid services.
Display excellent customer service skills in every interaction.
Process return to Title IV transactions and support functions.
Review Financial Aid business processes and compare them with Banner system to determine functionality gaps and work with internal stakeholders to identify appropriate changes and modifications.
This position is best suited for someone who prefers a fast-paced environment, adapts to change, is highly organized, actively engages with all customers, and is willing to develop new skills.
Additional Responsibilities
Performs revisions to financial aid awards according to federal, state, and Bryant and Stratton college requirements due to changes in enrollment status, requests for changes in award, and other special revision projects. Monitors individual student awards, resolves data conflicts, and/or over-awards.
Processes Drops.
Uses Banner and the other third‑party systems (CPS, COD and NSLDS) to report or correct student/or parent information listed erroneously on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or as a result of being selected for verification by the Department of Education.
Follows up on all items preventing or delaying the awarding process to ensure student’s financial aid file is complete and ready to be originated and disbursed at or before the end of the semester. This includes contact with external and internal departments.
Report to the Financial Services Director & Manager any activity or incident which may not be in compliance with all state and federal regulations and or, system guidelines.
Create lost Tap list.
Determine lost Institutional Grants and scholarships.
Check Direct Loan originations prior to submission/correct rejected records, reconcile Pell variances and correct Pell Pops.
Review Conditional Students that don’t possess GEDs or Diplomas or those that have not submitted them.
Monitor tracking requirements, run month‑end fund status, track and monitor all students’ awards to ensure funds are accurately received on a timely basis.
Assist/monitor processing reports, including but not limited to Monday Morning report.
Review FA Census during the 2‑week span in attendance for Title VI Aid.
Review FA Census for all first year or first term for those receiving loans for the first time.
Assist in training of new staff, maintain high customer service standards in the area of Financial Aid. Promote communication and initiate training internally and among various Bryant and Stratton departments regarding student financial practices, policy interpretation, problem resolution to improve operating efficiencies and service while complying with Bryant and Stratton policy and procedures and state and federal law.
Develop and implement any needed corrective action plan based upon quality assurance reviews and internal/external audits.
Must have ability to manage multiple projects and possess a team approach to problem solving; must have ability to collaborate with other offices in the College and have ability to work with a diverse population.
Ability to work independently with little direction; meet schedules and timelines. Familiarity with database concepts, reporting strategies and Mythics. Strong computing skills in a PC environment (Access, Excel, MS‑Word, and PowerPoint).
Good understanding of student financial services process; ability to design processes and develop tools to promote greater office productivity, reduce errors, and improve the enrollment process.
Excellent communication skills and the demonstrated ability to serve as liaison between technical and non‑technical staff.
Works collaboratively with Financial Aid Director, IT and other departments to resolve programmatic issues, implementation of system enhancements, and establish production schedules.
Evaluates current financial aid policies and procedures and makes recommendations for policy revisions to enhance process improvements through the use of Banner financial aid applications and functionality.
Works with the Financial Aid Manager, DOA and IT on the annual "New Year Roll". Obtains and coordinates feedback from the Directors of Financial Aid and performs Banner set‑up; also assists in the development of quality control over the process.
Completes any other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree required, and must not be in default of a federal student loan.
Familiarity with R2T4 processes.
Internet Savvy with multiple browsers.
3 years’ experience with Banner.
Familiar with Microsoft Office products.
Ability to work some overtime.
