Responsibilities
Develop new shipper relationships through prospecting and industry networking
Negotiate rates directly with shippers and secure contractual freight opportunities
Identify cross-selling opportunities (LTL, FTL, intermodal, expedited, drayage, etc.)
Prepare pricing proposals, bids, and RFP responses
Build and maintain a strong network of vetted carriers
Negotiate competitive buy rates while maintaining service quality
Ensure carrier compliance (insurance, authority, safety ratings)
Coordinate freight movement from tender through delivery
Track shipments proactively and resolve service issues in real time
Manage appointment scheduling, detention, lumper fees, and accessorials
Maintain accurate documentation (BOLs, rate confirmations, PODs)
Work closely with dispatch, accounting, and claims departments
Experience
Minimum of 3+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, or a related industry
Strong understanding of the current logistics market, including capacity trends, pricing dynamics, and carrier networks
Highly competitive and goal-driven, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding performance targets
Demonstrated experience sourcing, qualifying, and vetting carriers to ensure service reliability and compliance
Proven ability to identify cross-selling opportunities and drive account expansion through strategic relationship management
