
Part-Time Recreation Aide
This is a part-time position that assists in the organization, promotion, and supervision of recreation activities. Essential functions include planning, organizing, and implementing citywide recreation programs (i.e., volleyball, rowing, sailing, etc.). Instructs participants in program. May be assigned tasks at any of the City's public facilities. Supervises and schedules work assignment of subordinate Recreation Aides in program. Monitors the budget allocation for assigned program. Reviews and makes recommendations on supplies needed. Keeps accurate records on attendance. Collects and accounts for monies received from program activities. Arranges for program transportation needs. May be required to operate a City (15 passenger or less) recreation van or smaller motor vehicle, not requiring a commercial driver's license. May be required to perform clerical duties. May be required to perform custodial tasks. Cleans and sets up facility for program activities. May be required to perform light ground maintenance tasks. Performs other related work as required. An employee in this classification will report to and work under the general supervision of the Park Manager, Recreation Specialist, or designee in charge of the recreation facility, program, camp, or playground. Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or its equivalent and three (3) years experience in recreational activities. A valid driver's license from any state (equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be utilized upon application, however, a State of Florida Driver's License (Class E or higher) must be presented to the Department of Human Resources and must be maintained valid throughout employment. Certification as an instructor in a specialized recreational activity is desirable. OR an equivalent combination of education and experience beyond a high school diploma or its equivalent and one (1) year of the required experience. Special note: Candidates will be subject to a Level II background screening. Employees will be required to work a minimum of fifteen (15) hours per week. Documentation requirements include uploading and submitting attached copies of the following documents with the employment application: high school diploma or its equivalent, and a copy of your valid driver's license from any state (equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be utilized upon application, however, a State of Florida Driver's License (Class E or higher) is required at time of appointment and must be maintained valid throughout employment.
