
Title: Technical Writer
Location: Fairport, NY 14450
Duration: 6+ Months Contract
Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8AM – 5PM
Pay rate: $32/hr W2
Job Description: Client’s Advanced Optics plant in Fairport, NY is seeking a technical writer to improve existing and develop new technical documentation. The documentation being developed is for use by manufacturing and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities: Documentation Creation:
Develop and improve work instructions, standard operating procedures, troubleshooting guides, and job aids. Collaboration:
Work closely with subject matter experts, engineers, and operations gather information and ensure accuracy in documentation. Research:
Investigate and analyze technical information from various sources to create comprehensive documentation that meets user needs. Editing and Proofreading:
Review and edit documentation for clarity, consistency, and adherence to company style guidelines. Basic Project Management:
Manage documentation projects, including planning, scheduling, and tracking progress to meet deadlines and quality standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in English, communication, technical writing, engineering, or science fields. (minimum required) 3+ years of technical writing experience, manufacturing environment experience preferred Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Teams). PTC Windchill system experience is a plus. Ability to understand technical processes being documented. Optics knowledge is a plus. Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner. Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality in all documentation produced. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment, adapting to changing project requirements and deadlines.
