Job Opportunities The City of Columbus, Mississippi, is accepting applications to fill the position of Human Resources Director. The Human Resources Director oversees the recruitment and placement functions for the City, as well as organize, manage, and administer the City’s personnel systems and services. The HR Director assists all City departments in recruitment and selection, administration of job classification and wage plans, employee training and development, and compliance with employment regulations and guidelines as mandated by municipal, state and federal laws.

The successful candidate will work to ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations that affect City employment, including but not limited to, FLSA, DOL, ADA, FMLA, EEOC, Title VII, COBRA administration and Workers Compensation.

Graduation from a four‑year college or university with a degree in Public or Personnel Administration, Business Administration, Personnel Management, or closely related field; and at least five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in personnel management, preferable in the public sector; or any combination of education and experience that would provide the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge, and ability required to perform the job.

The annual salary will be determined. The City of Columbus has an excellent fringe benefit package.
