Parts Counter Sales/Warehouse Associate – Flowood, MS
Overview We are seeking a dynamic and customer‑focused Parts Counter Sales/Warehouse Associate at our heavy equipment location in Flowood. The role involves daily parts counter sales and warehouse operations, reporting to the Parts Manager.
Job Description & Responsibilities
Participate in all functions related to the parts order management process, including receiving, system posting, shelving/storing, picking/pulling, and shipping parts and components in accordance with quality and safety standards.
Assist with all aspects of parts counter sales and customer service: preparing quotes, determining parts availability, posting and executing orders/returns/exchanges/backorders, cross‑selling, following up on leads, and investigating and resolving customer issues and complaints.
Inspect, determine reusability/residual value, and process customer core‑component returns for credit and shipment following manufacturer guidelines and company policy.
Record and track parts‑related lost customer sales opportunities to support better inventory management and appropriate stocking levels.
Fabricate customized hydraulic hoses to specification, using bulk materials while adhering to quality and safety standards.
Operate ladder, forklift, and pallet jack to pull and transfer parts and components for customer delivery or warehouse stocking, following safety standards.
Maintain work area, tools, and equipment to promote a clean and safe environment.
Maintain a professional and proper personal appearance at all times.
Keep up to date with developments in parts, tooling, and systems.
Requirements
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Minimum 4–6 years of combined work experience as a retail parts counter salesman and/or warehouse associate in a parts sales and service shop environment.
Good technical knowledge of Caterpillar and allied heavy equipment (mechanical systems, diesel engines/engine failures, electrical and hydraulic systems).
Ability to read and comprehend computer‑based schematics, specifications, service and parts literature, technical bulletins, safety manuals, and related publications.
Proficient verbal, written, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
Strong problem‑solving skills, detail oriented, and ability to work with a high level of accuracy.
Good computer skills using related information system applications (ex: SIS, DBS).
Sense of urgency and ability to exceed customer expectations.
Ability to work in a dynamic fast‑paced service environment.
Availability to work a standard five‑day schedule, including daily overtime and occasional weekend hours as necessary.
