Position Summary The Proposal Strategist is responsible for leading and executing the full proposal lifecycle for assigned business development pursuits, from Request for Proposal (RFP) release through end game and checkmate phases. This role partners closely with business development and project management leadership to develop winning proposal strategies, compelling narratives, and differentiated value propositions that strengthen the company's competitive position.
The ideal candidate brings strong proposal leadership experience within a professional services environment, with the ability to manage complex pursuits, lead teams, and drive results under tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and manage comprehensive proposal plans, including schedules, storyboards, win strategies, team assignments, and proposal management plans.
Lead proposal development efforts from RFP release through final submission, end game, and checkmate phases.
Conduct and facilitate go/no-go reviews and official proposal kickoff meetings.
Lead pink team reviews and revise proposal content, messaging, and marketing materials based on feedback and strategic direction.
Oversee the development of proposal graphics and visuals in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
Perform post-submittal activities, including interview preparation and participation during the checkmate phase.
Develop negotiated contract outlines and deliver proposal services in alignment with checkmate phase requirements.
Support the development and integration of proposal metrics, including:
Change orders
Safety performance
Budget and schedule performance
Diversity goals
Community involvement initiatives
Assist with project closeout activities related to proposal deliverables.
Support submissions for industry awards, including ACEC, ENR, and local or national trade publications.
Attend professional association meetings, conferences, and trade shows to build industry relationships; assist with booth setup and preparation.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field
required
Applicable years of relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
Minimum of
4 years of experience
in marketing, business development, or sales within a professional services firm
required .
Experience in an
Architecture/Engineering (A/E) firm strongly preferred .
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including persuasive and technical writing.
Proficiency with
Adobe InDesign strongly preferred .
Certified Proposal Management Professional ( APMP ) certification
preferred
or equivalent.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple pursuits and deadlines simultaneously.
High attention to detail and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
