
Assistant Director of Child Care

Overview
Incumbents train and monitor center staff in classroom management and center policies/procedures, and assist the Director in the overall management of the center. Responsibilities may include monitoring and educating Lead Teachers and assistants about licensing and accreditation standards; managing Child and Adult Food Care Program; observing classrooms and implementing changes as needed; recognizing and reporting signs of child abuse and neglect; and maintaining confidentiality standards to include children and families information.
Responsibilities
Monitor classrooms for appropriate and effective classroom arrangement, planning, appearance, updated child and family information on parent board along with reviewing portfolios and written observations are up to date. (C4)
Monitor and evaluate teaching methods to ensure that developmentally appropriate practice and curriculum are implemented and used consistently throughout the Center. (C4)
Hire and train new student workers. Assign and maintain staffing schedules to ensure complete staffing shift coverage. Complete and approve staff time sheets in Directors absence. (B2)
Accurately input information on new families and staff, update existing information, and input billing for processing. Provide orientation materials and program tours to prospective families. (B2)
Recognize and report signs of child abuse and neglect. Maintain certification in first aid and CPR / AED and be knowledgeable of emergency procedures in regards to children and adults. (B2)
Attend and lead in staff meetings, advisory committee meetings, and special activities alongside the Director. Attend in service trainings, conferences, and workshops and implement recommended activities discovered during these meetings to further the development of self and other staff members. (B2)
Implement licensing and accreditation standards ensuring all staff are aware of and following proper standards and protocols. (B2)
Conduct orientation and in-service training for center staff, student workers, college, high school students and volunteers. (B2)
Investigate and recommend fundraising activities to increase funding and exposure of Center. (B2)
Perform other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.
Qualifications Minimum Education and/or Training and Experience: Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education and 3 years relevant work experience.
Preferred Education and/or Training and Experience: (none specified).
