The
Mechanical Designer
will support a diverse portfolio of industrial and infrastructure projects by performing a wide range of mechanical design and drafting activities. This role is responsible for producing high‑quality mechanical deliverables from concept through construction, working closely with engineers and multi‑discipline project teams. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to execute complex design assignments within schedule and budget constraints.
Key Responsibilities
Perform various phases of planning, site evaluations, analytical design, report preparation, specifications, and proposal and construction documentation as part of a project team.
Produce complete PFDs and P&IDs from verbal or written direction provided by design engineers.
Develop complete plot plans, sections, and detailed drawings from engineering input; isometric experience is a plus.
Plan and develop production drawings, including problem analysis, design layout, and calculations for non‑routine assignments of moderate to high complexity.
Execute mechanical design assignments using prescribed methods and standard techniques, including drawing sequence, presentation, and system component sizing.
Revise designs, sketches, and drawings; incorporate redlines and markups on active projects.
Analyze reports, drawings, and test data to support mechanical design efforts.
Interpret and apply applicable design codes, standards, and specifications.
Perform basic mechanical calculations related to layouts, equipment, schematics, wiring diagrams, and related systems.
Conduct quality assurance reviews of design drawings to ensure compliance with scope, budget, schedule, and design standards.
Ensure project drawings, plot files, and related documentation are maintained in a clear, logical, and organized structure.
Communicate clearly and professionally with project team members and clients to support coordination and execution.
Complete assignments within budgeted hours and project deadlines.
Comply with all company policies, standards, and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's Degree

Associate Degree

of related experience
High School Diploma
and
minimum

of progressive mechanical detailing and design experience
Technical Skills & Competencies
Advanced proficiency in
AutoCAD ,
Plant 3D , and
Excel
for development of design deliverables.
Familiarity with
MicroStation
and
CadWorx
is a plus.
Strong ability to work in both
2D
and
3D
design environments.
Experience with
geolocated models , plant coordinate systems, and spatial baselines is required.
Solid understanding of mechanical design principles, calculations, and design systems.
Knowledge of the theory and practices of mechanical design, with working awareness of related disciplines.
Ability to quickly learn and effectively utilize new design software and tools.
Professional Skills
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking abilities.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
