As a
consultant
on our team, you will play a meaningful role in shaping policy solutions that impact communities and organizations throughout Michigan. This is an ideal role for early-career professionals seeking: Meaningful work helping to shape public policy on the most pressing issues in Michigan Mentorship from experienced professionals and exposure to high-level executives in government and nongovernmental organizations Opportunities to grow research, writing, and facilitation techniques A workplace that values hard work, curiosity, and teamwork Hands-on experience supporting projects across multiple policy areas, including environment and natural resources, clean energy, community and economic development, and health and human services You’ll contribute directly to projects that inform decision-makers and strengthen communities through research, data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and meeting facilitation. What You’ll Do
Research and Content Development
As a key contributor to PSC’s reputation for quality research and deliverables, you’ll: Conduct and analyze policy research at the local, state, and national levels Translate data and findings into clear, compelling reports and strategy documents Draft and edit research reports, grant applications, and client materials Collect, analyze, and summarize quantitative and qualitative data into actionable insights Apply PSC’s quality standards to ensure accuracy and excellence in every deliverable Project and Client Support
Support the planning and facilitation of meetings, focus groups, and workshops Manage research tasks across multiple projects simultaneously Conduct stakeholder interviews and assist with other engagement efforts Help ensure projects stay on track and clients receive timely, high-quality work products Interact professionally and positively with clients as part of a project team Professional Growth and Team Culture
To foster a balance of excellent work and collegiality, you’ll: Collaborate with teammates in a fast-paced environment Seek and receive feedback with a growth mindset and actively seek out learning opportunities Contribute to a culture of trust, curiosity, and shared success Be flexible and occasionally support projects outside regular business hours What We’re Looking For
Education Experience One to three years of relevant experience Demonstrated research, writing, and analytical skills Technical Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Experience with other computer software is a plus, including familiarity with AI, ArcGIS, Tableau, or SPSS Core Qualities Curious and eager to learn Strong organizational and time-management skills Analytical and thoughtful problem-solver Clear and professional communicator Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range:
$63,086–$94,629 (based on education and experience) Benefits Include: Medical, dental, life, and disability insurance Employer 401(k) contribution Paid parental leave Paid parking Nine paid holidays Office closure between Christmas and New Year’s Day Paid time off starting upon hire Work Style
While PSC does not have strict in-office expectations, consultants should anticipate spending two to three days per week in our Lansing or Detroit office for client and firm meetings.
