Senior Public Engagement Manager Location:

Job Summary The Senior Public Engagement Manager leads strategic outreach efforts for customer-facing infrastructure projects within an assigned service territory. Projects may include electrical infrastructure enhancements, substation improvements, and underground utility initiatives.

This role requires extensive experience collaborating with technical teams and externally facing stakeholders across all organizational levels. The position involves coordinating complex internal and external communications and working independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and manage comprehensive strategic public engagement plans

Prepare, coordinate, and distribute written communications to property owners and project stakeholders

Manage, track, and respond to external inquiries related to assigned projects

Maintain accurate documentation and project communication records

Partner with internal teams to ensure effective communication and smooth project execution

Participate in project meetings, including field reviews, pre-construction meetings, and customer interactions onsite

Collaborate with community and government relations representatives to determine appropriate public engagement strategies

Coordinate development of communication materials (letters, presentations, informational collateral) in partnership with internal departments such as communications, legal, engineering, and project management

Oversee printing and mailing of external communications

Lead planning and execution of public information meetings

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree

AND

minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience

OR

High school diploma/GED

AND

minimum of seven (7) years of relevant professional experience

Required

Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting infrastructure or utility-related projects

Experience presenting to and communicating with external audiences

Ability to manage escalated situations and diverse stakeholder groups

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Knowledge of project management principles

Experience in regulated industries (e.g., utilities, energy, infrastructure)

Strong organizational and planning skills

Negotiation experience

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Experience working with community organizations

Ability to lead cross-functional teams

Demonstrated conflict resolution and problem-solving skills

Ability to interact effectively with employees, management, customers, vendors, and service providers at all levels

Experience supporting mid- and senior-level leadership

Project and event planning experience

Budget management experience

Working Conditions

Availability for local travel and occasional after-hours events

Frequent travel to field or construction sites to meet with crews and customers

Availability for on-call support as needed

Field-based role requiring mobility within the assigned service area

Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of assigned work location

Additional Details

Standard work schedule: 40 hours per week

Overtime: May be required periodically (estimated 1-5 hours per week when applicable)

Business expenses: 100% reimbursable in accordance with company policy

The pay for this W-2 position ranges from $60-$62 per hour. This position may be eligible for PTO, health and dental insurance, and/or 401(k) benefits upon meeting certain length of service and hours requirements.
