This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing environmental, health, and safety programs across all business units. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, promotes a culture of EHS, and drives continuous improvement in EHS performance.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership, Enterprise Accountability & Enforcement



Develop and implement a comprehensive EHS strategy and vision that is aligned with enterprise goals and regulatory requirements.



Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on EHS matters.



Establish and uphold a culture of accountability for EHS performance across all business units and leadership levels.



Define and enforce enterprise-wide EHS standards, policies, and expectations, ensuring consistent application and compliance.



Lead the development and operationalization of governance frameworks that monitor adherence to EHS protocols, including escalation procedures for non-compliance.



Partner with Legal, HR, and Operations to investigate violations, implement corrective actions, and ensure disciplinary measures are applied when necessary.



Ensure executive visibility into EHS performance through transparent reporting, dashboards, and executive level updates.

Compliance & Risk Management



Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local EHS regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).



Oversee audits, certifications, and regulatory reporting.



Monitor emerging legislation and proactively position the organization for compliance.



Establish systems to identify, assess, and mitigate environmental, health, and safety risks.



Oversee enterprise incident investigation programs ensuring corrective actions are implemented.



In partnership with Disability Management to drive workers compensation cost-containment strategies.

Culture & Engagement



Champion a safety first, behavior-based safety culture across all levels of the organization.



Develop training and leadership programs to build EHS awareness and accountability.



Collaborate with Operations, HR, and EHS to embed EHS cultural values and key responsibilities into training, onboarding, and leadership development programs.



Promote a culture of continuous improvement, empowering employees to identify and solve problems that impact environmental, health, and safety.

Performance & Metrics



Define and manage leading and lagging KPIs to measure EHS performance and progress.



Provide executive dashboards and reports to senior leadership.



Use data analytics to identify trends and drive strategic improvements.

Growth & Integration



Lead EHS due diligence and integration for acquisitions and new sites.



Ensure scalable EHS programs that support business expansion and full enterprise coverage.

DIRECTION OF OTHERS

This role will have direct reporting responsibilities for our centralized EHS team.

Direct reports could include directors, managers, and key subject matter experts.

Additionally, this role will also provide indirect reporting support and professional development guidance for our extended EHS team of professionals embedded in the business.

In total, this role provides enterprise leadership for EHS activities that span more than 35 unique locations and greater than 14,000 employees.

This role will lead EHS strategy for retail, manufacturing, logistics, office, drivers, installers and other workforce environments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION, SKILL AND/OR COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS



Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).



10-15+ years of progressive EHS leadership experience, including executive-level responsibility.



Deep working knowledge of EHS regulations, standards, and best practices.



Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence organizational culture.



Strong analytical, communication, relationship building, and strategic planning skills.



Professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM) are highly desired.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to work experience, education, geographic location, certifications, etc. This role is eligible for variable incentives
