
Intrepid Museum is looking for a full-time Social Media Coordinator will be responsible for supporting daily social publishing, creative storytelling, and community engagement across key social media platforms. This role reports to the Senior Social Media Manager and works closely with special events, communications, creative and video teams to expand the Intrepid Museum's reach and engagement. The position will coordinate activities with internal departments to support their respective initiatives, ensuring consistency in voice and cultivating an engaged social media and digital community.
Salary: $60,000 - $65,000
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Capture, design and publish social media posts to support department strategies • Develop and copy write original content required for various digital assets including emails, website and social media channels with the intent to grow and engage our digital audience • Identify and surface relevant social and cultural trends, memes, and moments that align with Intrepid Museum's brand to the Senior Social Media Manager. • Support our teams in packaging stories for social distribution and ensure content is optimized for discovery and engagement • Attend most programming and special events to create Instagram stories/reels, leveraging content to support department and Museum initiatives. • Monitor engagement across Intrepid's social channels and surface audience feedback or opportunities to help the team create meaningful engagement campaigns. • Track post performance, assist with weekly and monthly social recaps, and help to identify learnings to inform future strategy. • Assist in campaign execution, tentpole coverage, and cross-brand partnerships • Assist in the development of overall social communications strategy • Evaluate and experiment with emerging social platforms and new technologies to generate buzz and engagement • Performs other duties as required by management • Experience in the oversight and management of social media channels • Experienced writing and editing background • Strong knowledge of social media channels, tools and digital marketing. • Creative thinker who can generate innovative ideas and solutions and partner effectively with marketing and other creative teams • Good operational and process orientation. Strong project management and organizational abilities • Passion for visual storytelling and the cultural museum space. • Editorial judgement, writing skills, and the ability to capture brand voice • Strong photography and videography skills (portfolio requested) • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, experience in dealing with multiple and diverse internal stakeholders, and interacting with business and technology partners. Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, across all organizational levels
Qualified candidates must have Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Marketing, Business, Communications, Journalism or related field from four-year college or university and two related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 2-4 years of experience in social media, digital content, or audience development. Ability to manage multiple projects in a face-paced environment. Familiarity with analytics and scheduling tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Meta, Google Analytics). Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premier Pro, Illustrator, Lightroom), Canva, CapCut, OpusAI, Loomly and Drupal or similar design tools is a plus. Collaborative mindset and comfort working cross-functionally with creative, communications, and strategy teams. Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as necessary.
