What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
Write, edit, and publish a high volume of news and culture content daily, including breaking stories and reported features
Edit copy for accuracy, clarity, and strong headlines under tight deadlines
Collaborate with editorial, audio, and social teams for cohesive coverage across platforms
Identify and elevate emerging stories relevant to Black audiences
Apply SEO and tagging best practices to enhance content discoverability
What is Required (Qualifications):
1–3 years of experience in digital journalism, web producing, or content creation
Proven experience writing and editing online content, including articles and social media copy
Familiarity with CMS publishing tools and basic image editing (Photoshop or similar)
Working knowledge of SEO, tagging, and content optimization best practices
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or a related field preferred, but strong experience may substitute
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
Strong writing and editing skills with sound editorial judgment
Genuine passion for news, current events, and cultural conversations
Experience publishing or promoting content on social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook
Ability to work independently while contributing to team-driven coverage
Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities
