
Senior Merchant – Annuals
This role is onsite in our Bentonville, Arkansas location.

As a Senior Merchant, your expertise, vision and strategy will allow you to see the products you buy come to life in stores and online. You will work across all facets of the business, including but not limited to category strategy, team management, budgeting, forecasting, modulars and assortments, replenishment, and supplier negotiations. Leveraging your advocacy and negotiation skills with the access and scale of the Walmart system, you’ll make a direct impact on the business and help families all over the world save money and live better. What you’ll do…
Lead a cross‑functional buying matrix team, establish strategy and manage budgets to drive profitable growth.
Develop robust partnerships with suppliers and use vision and creativity to impact the customer experience for both stores and eCommerce channels.
Know your customer’s needs and suppliers better than anyone and constantly think about what is next for your business.
Use an analytical mindset, influence, ability to meet deadlines and competitive spirit.
Use executive presence to work with suppliers at all levels and navigate complex challenges.
Comfortable managing a multi‑million dollar business with profit and loss responsibility.
Entrepreneurial, enjoy being the CEO of your business.
Customer‑focused; understand behavior across stores and eComm channels and make customer‑centric recommendations.
Proven digital acumen and leverage it to drive omni‑channel business.
Data savvy: analyze performance, understand trends, translate results into strategies.
Strong communication skills for conveying complex topics concisely.
Guide suppliers, vendors, and cross‑functional team in development of customer‑focused processes and products.

Developing strategy and growth of multiple formats and departments for large, complex, or high‑risk categories and subcategories by identifying relevant trends to meet customer needs.
Growing categories for both stores & eComm channels: planning, budgeting, forecasting, driving growth, establishing a comprehensive understanding of competitive landscape.
Establishing and influencing high‑visibility supplier relationships.
Developing and managing new and existing product lines.
Leading your team through mentorship and development to achieve high performance standards.

Compensation The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include stock.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising or related field and 4 years’ experience in merchandising, buying, financial planning, operations, or related area. OR 6 years’ experience in merchandising, buying, financial planning, operations, or related area.
1 year’s supervisory experience.
