A Day in the Life of a New Business Development Manager – Emerging Channels
Manages a portfolio of DSD distributors, liquor wholesalers, and emerging channel accounts and is responsible for delivering the Annual Operating Plan.
Responsible for achieving sales quotas/AOP, quarterly reforecasts, and ensuring consistent execution across distributor partners.
Leads the execution of Merchandising, Assortment, Promotions, and Shelving objectives by directing distributor and broker resources to meet Ocean Spray goals within required timelines.
Proactively utilizes and manages internal and external resources – including deduction resolution – to achieve both company and customer objectives.
Owns demand planning inputs for assigned accounts; measured through accurate monthly sales forecasts and visibility into distributor depletions.
Builds strong, collaborative relationships across Ocean Spray’s internal network, distributor leadership teams, field sales partners, and broker organizations to drive business results.
Understands, articulates, and educates distributor and wholesaler partners on Ocean Spray strategies, priorities, and execution expectations.
Analyzes shipment trends, depletions, execution gaps, and financial results; develops solutions to close volume and profit gaps.
Collects and communicates customer, industry, and competitive insights to identify opportunities or risks impacting the Emerging Channels business plan.
Identifies whitespace growth opportunities across liquor, specialty beverage, and other high-potential emerging channels.
What We Are Looking For
Minimum 3+ years of sales experience; beverage alcohol or DSD route-to-market experience strongly preferred.
Bachelor’s Degree (required).
Experience working with or managing DSD distributors or liquor wholesalers is a strong plus.
Ability to develop, lead, and execute a sales plan across multiple customer types.
Ability to proactively identify, develop, and act on business opportunities.
Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to interpret data and drive actionable insights.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to improve processes and enhance execution efficiency.
Credible, trustworthy, and skilled at influencing internal and external partners.
Ability to travel up to 30%.
Education Bachelor’s or University Degree (Required)
Work Experience At least 3 Years of Experience
Annual Salary $105,800 – $145,420
The base salary range above serves as a guideline of the position’s typical hiring range.
