We’re looking for a dynamic and data-savvy
Social Media Community Manager
who lives online (in a healthy way), understands internet culture, and knows how to turn comment sections into conversations. You’ll be the voice of our clients’ brands on social, engaging audiences, managing communities, spotting trends early, and helping shape how brands show up in culture. Based out of the NYC area, this is a key role in delivering on OK COOL’s mission to humanize brands and connect them to culture through smart, social-first thinking.
This role is ideal for someone who’s deeply fluent in platforms like TikTok, Instagram, X, and emerging spaces, and who understands that community management is both an art and a strategy. This role requires a strategic thinker who can foster meaningful engagement, monitor conversations, and provide insightful social reporting.
Key Responsibilities Community Engagement & Management
Act as the voice of the brand across social media platforms, fostering engagement and meaningful interactions.
Respond to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely and brand-appropriate manner.
Proactively identify opportunities for engagement and community growth.
Manage potential crises and elevate issues as needed.
Social Monitoring & Reporting
Monitor brand sentiment, conversations, and trends to provide actionable insights.
Use social listening tools to track industry trends and competitor activity.
Analyze social media performance metrics and create client reports with key takeaways and recommendations.
Collaborate with internal teams to refine content strategy based on performance data.
Content & Campaign Support
Work closely with strategists and creative to align community management efforts with campaign goals.
Provide real-time feedback on content engagement and audience sentiment.
Support the strategy and creative department to help form social‑first creative ideas which drive brand building and effectiveness over time.
Write platform-native responses that feel human, timely, and on-brand.
Support content publishing and light content creation when needed (captions, memes, quick‑turn posts).
Trends & Culture
Monitor social trends, memes, sounds, and platform updates — and know when (and when not) to jump in.
Surface real‑time insights from the community that can inform creative ideas and strategy.
Keep a pulse on cultural moments relevant to our clients’ audiences.
Relevant & Required Skills
2–4 years of experience managing social media communities for brands, agencies, or creators.
Strong understanding of social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, etc.).
Experience with social media monitoring and reporting tools (Sprout Social, Brandwatch, Sprinklr, etc.).
Strong written voice with the ability to adapt tone across different brands and platforms.
Deep understanding of social platforms, especially TikTok, Instagram, and emerging channels.
Cultural fluency; you understand internet humor, trends, and how audiences behave online.
Highly organized, responsive, and comfortable managing multiple accounts at once.
Calm, thoughtful, and solutions‑oriented when navigating sensitive or high‑visibility moments.
Excellent communication skills with a brand‑first approach to engagement.
Ability to analyze data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
In‑depth knowledge of best practice and native channel analytics (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok, Snapchat etc) and a keen interest in up‑and‑coming platforms.
An understanding of various strategic frameworks and analytical tools, with the ability to identify KPIs and metrics that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time‑Bound.
A proven ability to conduct in‑depth research and develop actionable insights.
