Examples of Duties Under supervision, has charge of the organization and direction of recreational activities of a playground or play center. Performs related duties as required.

TYPICAL TASKS:

Organizes and directs play and planned activities at a playground or play center. Organizes activities and gives instruction in group games, such as playground ball, volley ball, tennis, and other group or team games. Organizes and conducts field meets, sport days, and other special and festival events on the playground in connection with city-wide programs. Marks and lays out playing fields for various games and events. Supervises the issuance, setting-out, use, collection, storing, and maintaining of equipment and apparatus. Maintains order within the playground or center. Discourages gambling, profanity, and rowdiness on the playground. Encourages participation in recreation activities. Conducts special classes or assists staff instructors in handicrafts, dancing, story-telling, dramatics, music, nature study, and other special activities. Attends staff meetings. Administers first aid. Consults with supervisors, assistants, and co-workers concerning the work of the playground. Keeps records. Makes routine and special reports. Supervises the work of play leaders or other assistants.

Minimum Qualifications A valid State of Ohio ID Must be 18+ years of age Camp experience with children preferred.

Additional Duties/Responsibilities Required to remain on the premises overnight Monday through Friday during the camp. In charge of the organization and direction of camp activities.

TYPICAL TASKS:

Organize and give instruction in activities and group games such as kickball, volleyball, flag football and other group or team games. Monitor camper interactions and encourage participation during activities. Conducts special classes or assists staff instructors in arts & crafts, dancing, storytelling, dramatics, music, nature study, and other outdoor/indoor activities. Work with trained staff/volunteers to teach campers fishing skills, boating skills, teamwork characteristics, and survival skills. Review all safety procedures with campers: mock fire drills, intruders, adverse weather drills, and lost camper drills. Be an active participant in the camp experience. Teach campers independent living skills. Ensure campers are following good hygiene and safety habits, make sure all campers are dressed appropriately for activities, and abide by all camp rules. Supervise children in cabins and provide positive leadership. Will be required to sleep in tent on the campgrounds. Prepare campfire and help maintain campfire circle. Administer first aid. Complete incident reports. Consults with supervisors, assistants, and co-workers concerning activities, disciplinary actions and camper engagements. Contact parents regarding camper infirmary visits or any incidents as needed. Keeps records. Make reports on the condition of the grounds/any cabins issues. Performs related duties as required. Work with youth age 9-13 years of various backgrounds. Instructor, oversee, and participate in indoor/outdoor camp activities. Supervise youth overnight in cabins providing a safe atmosphere that helps build independent living skills and will foster good leadership characteristics. Provide youth of Cleveland an opportunity experience camp through learning nature skills, social skills, teamwork skills and fun activities that will create a lifetime of memories.
