Are you an experienced subcontract professional with deep far15 experience and a passion for leading high visibility government sourcing initiatives? We're seeking a principal subcontracts specialist to support the machining government sourcing team. This senior role leads end-to-end far15 proposal cycles, negotiates complex government subcontracts, shapes supplier strategy, and mentors sourcing teammatesall while supporting major government programs. This position directly influences program success, compliance posture, pricing alignment, and supplier readiness.
About the Role
The principal subcontracts specialist leads the entire far15 lifecyclefrom proposal development and sales order fulfillment through negotiation and award of subcontracts and ltas. You will deliver fully compliant far15 packages to government customers, build robust negotiation positions, and partner closely with pricing, engineering, and program stakeholders. You will also lead a commodity, guide peers, and drive supplier strategies that ensure the best value while maintaining full compliance with far, dfars, tcpd, and program requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead execution of far15-compliant subcontracts, ensuring adherence to far/dfars and all required standards
- Build strong, defensible negotiation positions backed by cost models, historicals, and supplier data
- Manage performance and relationships of key program suppliers
- Mentor, train, and uplift team members, improving skills and compliance quality
- Develop supplier strategies to drive cost, schedule, and quality advantages
- Partner with pricing to deliver complete, compliant, defect-free proposal packages
- Lead negotiations for complex subcontracts including ffp, cp, cpif, and long-term arrangements
You Must Have
- Minimum 7 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, logistics & compliance, business, or finance
We Value
- Bachelor's degree
- Extensive dod procurement subcontracting experience with far15
- Deep understanding of the dod procurement lifecycle
- Strong hands-on experience with far, dfars, and compliant documentation
- Advanced negotiation skills and strategic thinking
- Supply chain or procurement experience in defense, aerospace, or similarly regulated industries
- Experience with subcontract types including ffp, cp, cpif, etc.
- Knowledge of truthful cost or pricing data (tcpd) requirements
- Ability to interpret, understand, and negotiate complex terms & conditions
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
- Experience mentoring teams and leading commodities/programs
