
Southern Hills Country Club is seeking candidates for our
Merchandiser
role who are committed to providing world‑class service. The Merchandiser at Southern Hills assists the Director of Golf with the daily golf operation including but not limited to the total merchandising operation for the golf shop, protecting and controlling assets, and providing other professional services to the membership to ensure an exceptional experience.
Position Highlights
Deliver World Class Service to Every Member and Guest
Maintain expert knowledge of Member tastes and preferences through strong relationships in the shop
Purchase, receive, price, visually present, promote and sell merchandise, and control inventory levels
Merchandise and present seasonal product assortments
Assist with preparing operational budgets for the merchandising
Assist with developing and executing seasonal merchandise plans, visual presentation guidelines, pricing strategies and organizing accounts payable
Market merchandise by studying advertising, sales promotion and display plans
Be visible in the golf shop and assist Members and Guests
Develop and execute annual buying plans for the golf shop
Provide continuous training to the golf staff
Assist the golf professional staff with all tournament operations
Qualifications
1+ year of retail merchandising experience preferred but not required
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Comfortable navigating social media platforms and supporting content creation
Strong proficiency in Google Drive and Canva, with the ability to create organized files and visually appealing materials
Proficient in processing, managing, and creating invoices
Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred but not required
Entrepreneurial spirit
Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite
Fit with Southern Hills Country Club's culture and values
Natural leader and problem solver with a growth mindset
Luxury retail experience preferred
Working knowledge of the game of golf preferred
Flexibility and availability to work some weekends
Compensation & Benefits This is an hourly paid, non-exempt (overtime eligible) position. In addition to a base hourly rate, the Merchandiser will earn commission from golf shop sales. Hours are full-time to meet business demands, which typically exceed 40 hours per week. Comprehensive benefits include health insurance, 401(k) with matching, clothing allowance, paid holidays, paid time off (PTO), and Christmas fund eligibility.
The Club Southern Hills Country Club is a prestigious, member-owned private golf and country club with a storied golf history and worldwide acclaim. We have hosted a total of eight major championships for men, including the U.S. Open three times (1958, 1977, 2001) and five PGA Championships (1970, 1982, 1994, 2007, 2022). Southern Hills will host the PGA Championship again in 2032.
Director of Golf, Cary Cozby Cary Cozby began his Southern Hills career as an Assistant Golf Professional in the 1990’s before becoming the Director of Golf at Wichita Country Club. While at Wichita Country Club, Cary was awarded the National PGA Merchandiser of the year in 2002. He returned to Southern Hills in 2015 as the Director of Golf. Cary was honored as PGA of America Golf Professional of the Year in 2016.
