About The Campaign Finance Board The New York City Campaign Finance Board (CFB) manages New York City’s small donor democracy program and educates and engages voters via NYC Votes. The CFB has enjoyed a tremendous arc of progress over its 30‑year history, and our updated flagship small donor democracy program is the centerpiece of this progress. We eliminate barriers to participation by providing access to the resources New Yorkers need to vote or run for office and amplify the voices of small donors with New York City’s small donor democracy program. About The Department The Marketing and Digital Communications unit leads the top‑level marketing and communications strategy for the CFB and creates the strategy for all public‑facing materials that directly engage and serve the needs of five million New Yorkers in thirteen languages through the agency’s voter engagement initiative, NYC Votes.

Job Description The NYC Campaign Finance Board (CFB) is seeking a Content Writer to develop, refine, and elevate the voice of NYC Votes across digital platforms. NYC Votes is the CFB’s nonpartisan voter engagement initiative, empowering New Yorkers with clear, accessible, and actionable information about elections, voting, and civic participation. As part of the Marketing & Digital Communications Unit, you will lead the creation of compelling, plain‑language content that resonates with the city’s diverse communities. You will collaborate with designers, digital strategists, and subject matter experts to produce materials that inform, engage, and inspire New Yorkers to participate in their democracy. This role is ideal for a strategic communicator who can translate complex civic information into engaging content while maintaining accessibility, accuracy, and nonpartisanship.

Responsibilities

Write, edit, and produce content for NYC Votes campaigns across web, email, social media, advertising, and print.

Ensure all content reflects NYC Votes’ voice, style, and accessibility standards, including plain language and language access considerations.

Brainstorm content plans for key initiatives such as matching funds education, debates, and election‑specific content.

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure consistent messaging across platforms.

Adapt content for multiple audiences, with a focus on engaging young voters, multilingual communities, and historically underrepresented groups.

Incorporate Seach Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices and use analytics to measure digital content performance and refine strategies.

Provide editorial feedback for written assets.

Manage deadlines and workflows for multiple projects in fast‑paced election cycles.

Uphold the CFB’s mission and nonpartisan principles in all communications.

Familiarity with New York City government or civic engagement is a plus

Experience using Salesforce Marketing Cloud or equivalent CMS

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by at least twelve‑semester credits (or the equivalent of twelve‑semester credits) in accounting, auditing, business or public administration, computer science, economics, finance, statistics, graphic design, personnel or human resources administration, user experience design, or a closely related area of study and one year of satisfactory full‑time experience in accounting, auditing (including compliance or investigative auditing), business or public administration, business analysis, computer science, database administration, economics, finance, fiscal or economic management or research, statistics, graphic design, personnel or human resources administration, user experience design, or a closely related field; or a four‑year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and five years of experience as described in “1” above; or education and/or experience equivalent to “1” above.

Residency Requirement New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
