Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Specialist – $50/hr – San Antonio, TX – Virtual – 20 Weeks
Position Overview: The Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Specialist provides instruction and support to students with visual impairments, helping them safely and independently navigate their environments. This role promotes social, intellectual, and emotional development by teaching essential travel skills, environmental awareness, and functional independence. The O&M Specialist adapts instruction to individual needs while following all professional and educational practice standards.
Assignment Details:
Location: San Antonio, TX
Start Date: 02/23/2026 (ASAP)
Duration: 20 weeks
Schedule: Flexible
Hours: 20 hours per week
Pay Rate: $50/hour
Modality: Virtual
Openings: 1 position
Virtual O&M services for a caseload of 3 students
Instruction includes orientation skills, travel training, and independence strategies
Virtual interview required
Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized virtual O&M instruction to students with visual impairments
Teach safe travel techniques, environmental awareness, and functional mobility skills
Support students in building independence and self-advocacy
Collaborate with families, educators, and support teams
Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to O&M professional standards
Adapt lessons based on student progress and individual goals
Requirements:
Active Texas O&M Certification
Experience working in instructional or student support environments preferred
CPR certification if applicable
TB screening and health certificate per state guidelines
Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age
