Overview Position: Steel Erection Estimator

- Company Overview: Join us on exciting and prestigious construction projects where safety, quality, and teamwork come first. We are looking for a skilled Estimator to help lead our efforts in delivering landmark projects with excellence. What You'll Do Analyze drawings, specifications, and request for proposals (RFPs) to understand project requirements. Conduct comprehensive quantity takeoffs for steel, concrete, connections, labor, and equipment. Develop accurate cost estimates, including direct costs, indirects, overheads, and contingency allowances. Solicit, assess, and negotiate bids from subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers. Collaborate with engineering, design, and operations teams to ensure constructability assumptions are validated. Prepare and present bid packages and proposals to management and clients. Maintain and update estimation databases and historical cost records. Provide insights for value-engineering to enhance cost efficiency, schedule, and constructability. Assist with post-bid work, including reviewing subcontractor scopes and handling clarifications or changes. Support the pricing of change orders and claims as needed. What We're Looking For (Qualifications & Skills) Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil/Structural Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). At least 5 years of experience in estimating in structural/specialty construction (steel erection, precast, heavy structure). Solid understanding of construction methods, structures, steel detailing, connections, and erection sequencing. Proficient in takeoff/estimating software such as Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, Sage Estimating, or similar tools. Experience in Excel models, cost databases, and bid spreadsheets. Exceptional negotiation skills and strong relationships with vendors/subcontractors. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present confidently to management and clients. Detail-oriented with a comprehensive approach to schedule, risk, and logistics management. Able to manage multiple bids under tight deadlines. Willingness to travel to job sites when necessary for bidding or site visits. Professional demeanor, integrity, and a collaborative mindset.
