
Director of Accounting and Finance

Vaco is partnering with a Phoenix-based construction company to identify a Director of Accounting & Finance to lead and strengthen their financial operations.
Responsibilities include:
Lead financial strategy and long‑range planning aligned with company growth objectives while partnering closely with executive leadership to drive profitability and sustainable expansion.
Oversee GAAP‑compliant financial reporting, including percentage‑of‑completion accounting, WIP schedules, and executive‑level financial performance presentations.
Drive construction‑specific financial management, including job costing, project profitability tracking, margin analysis, change order tracking, and earned revenue calculations.
Build and mentor a high‑performing finance team while optimizing ERP systems and financial processes to support scalable growth and real‑time KPI visibility.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA strongly preferred.
8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with demonstrated leadership growth.
Significant hands‑on experience in construction accounting is required.
Strong command of GAAP, including percentage‑of‑completion accounting.
Proven expertise managing WIP schedules, job costing, and project‑based financial reporting.
Advanced financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical capabilities.
Experience with construction ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, Viewpoint, or similar platforms).
This is a fully onsite role (5 days per week) offering a strong and sustainable work‑life balance.
Compensation range: $175,000–$200,000 base salary, plus performance‑based bonus.
