Nuclear Medicine Technologist – UHC Staffing Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Location: Bakersfield, CA

Start Date: 03-02-2026

End Date: 06-01-2026

Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 8-hour day shifts (Days 5x8s). Rotating weekday call after 4:30 PM, rotating weekends, and rotating holiday on-call. Staff may float to Mercy Downtown as needed. Exact daily start/end times vary by unit.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality nuclear medicine studies including cardiac, SPECT, bone scans, bleed studies, and gastric emptying
  • Operate and maintain GE nuclear medicine equipment and associated imaging systems
  • Accurately document procedures and patient information in Cerner and archive images in Radnet / Merge Unity
  • Coordinate with on-site radiologists and the lead technologist to ensure timely, safe patient care
  • Float to nearby Mercy Downtown when needed to provide coverage and continuity of services
  • Participate in rotating call and weekend coverage to support 24/7 imaging needs
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain required certifications to protect patients and staff

Qualifications

  • Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) via NMTCB — required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or ARC) — required
  • At least 2 years of nuclear medicine technologist experience
  • Comfortable performing cardiac imaging, SPECT, bone scans, bleed studies, and gastric emptying studies
  • Experience with PACS and EMR systems, specifically Radnet, Merge Unity, and Cerner
  • Able to float to Mercy Downtown (approximately 6.5 miles) and participate in rotating call and weekend coverage
  • No IV starts required for this role

Education

  • Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) via NMTCB required

Knowledge & Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of nuclear medicine procedures and imaging protocols
  • Proficiency with SPECT imaging and interpretation workflow
  • Hands-on experience with GE imaging equipment
  • Familiarity with PACS systems (Radnet, Merge Unity) and Cerner charting
  • Strong patient-care and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented approach to image acquisition, labeling, and documentation
  • Ability to multitask in an acute care environment and collaborate with radiologists
