Job Overview Colorado Department of Labor and Employment is seeking a Labor/Employment Specialist I to support the Colorado Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) program. The role provides front‑line customer service to business owners, employers, and individuals regarding FAMLI rights, responsibilities, and self‑service tools via phone, email, and chat platforms.

Eligibility and Residency THIS POSITION IS OPEN TO COLORADO RESIDENTS ONLY!

The position is intended to be 100% remote but may require visiting a state office as business needs arise.

Salary Range Hourly: $24.45 – $36.83 Biweekly: $1,956.00 – $2,946.40 Monthly: $4,238.00 – $6,383.87

Responsibilities

Assist, educate, and inform Colorado business owners, employers, sole proprietors, and individuals about FAMLI program rights and responsibilities.

Provide support via telephone, email, and chat, including account creation, system navigation, troubleshooting, and answering program rules questions.

Educate callers on the self‑service system, provide tips, and guide them to online resources.

Explain and clarify FAMLI Division policies, regulations, and state laws.

Protect interests of Coloradans and the FAMLI program while informing participants of their rights and responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications Experience only: Four (4) years and six (6) months of relevant experience in a related occupation.

Education and experience: A combination of related education and/or experience equal to four (4) years and six (6) months.

Preferred Qualifications

Call center experience

Previous customer service or contact center role

Previous remote/virtual work experience

Familiarity with CRM software and ticketing systems

Strong knowledge of the FAMLI statute and adopted rules

Proven ability to meet or exceed performance targets and KPIs

Excellent time‑management and organizational skills

Conditions of Employment

Must be a Colorado state resident at time of application.

Must pass a thorough background check that includes the E‑Verify process.

Must speak, write, and read Spanish proficiently.

Comparative Analysis Process and Exam After screening, applicants will complete an online exam covering Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and other basic support competencies. The exam starts 8:00 AM on MARCH 5TH and closes on MARCH 11TH at 11:59 PM.
