
Under general supervision, is responsible for removing, repairing, and replacing damaged tires on automotive vehicles and heavy equipment. Exercises no supervision.
This position is an "unclassified" position and has no disciplinary appeal rights to the Municipal Civil Service Commission. This position is likewise subject to at-will employment status and can be terminated at any time for any reason.

Work Hours Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM or 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM
Responsibilities
Removes and replaces worn or defective tires on automobiles, trucks, light and heavy equipment.
Cleans and maintains tools, equipment, and work area.
Removes wheels from vehicle by hand or uses power hoist to repair giant tires of heavy equipment and frequently lifting/carrying of up to 100 pounds.
Locates puncture in tires by visual inspection or water immersion.
Seals puncture or repairs ruptures by using adhesive material, tire patches, or rubber cement.
Operates tire breaking and tire balancing machine.
Picks up, delivers, and repairs tires for all City centers.
Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
One (1) year of tire shop attendant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of tools and equipment used for tire replacements and repairs.
Knowledge of wheel balancing procedures.
Ability to remove, repair, and replace tires on automobiles, trucks, and heavy equipment.
Ability to frequently lift and carry 75 pounds.
Applicant Information
Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
