OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY
The Part-Time Organist will play a vital role in enhancing the spiritual life of the parish through sacred music. This position involves providing musical accompaniment and vocal leadership during weekend Masses and other sacramental celebrations. The Organist will collaborate closely with the choir and clergy to cultivate a meaningful and spiritually enriching worship environment that supports the liturgical and pastoral mission of the parish.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide organ accompaniment and vocals (preferably) for:
Weekend Masses: Saturday 4:00 PM, Sunday 9:00 AM & 11:00 AM
Funerals, weddings, and other liturgical services as scheduled
Rehearse with the choir before the 11:00am Sunday Mass
Prepare and distribute a monthly music sheet for all scheduled Masses
Select appropriate liturgical music in alignment with Catholic traditions and seasonal themes
Collaborate with clergy, choir director, and cantors to ensure cohesive worship planning
Monitor and report any maintenance needs for the parish organ
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Proficiency in organ performance and vocal accompaniment
Familiarity with Catholic liturgy, hymns, and sacred music repertoire
Ability to sight-read and support choral and congregational singing
Strong communication and organizational skills
Degree in music or equivalent experience preferred
Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church preferred.
