
The client is looking for 1 Survey Crew, Crew Chief & Instrument Operators to assist the surveying team with mapping needs and projects throughout Eastern North Carolina. Instrument Operators are members of a Survey Crew. Instrument Operators assist with field surveying activities, including the maintenance of all survey equipment.
Responsibilities
Be assigned to a team that is responsible for surveying land and collecting data about land conditions prior to development projects
Adjust and operate surveying instruments such as Leica/Nikon, digital and automatic levels and various survey related software
Move and carry all surveying instruments at job sites across various kinds of landscapes
Identify project survey control points and above ground utility surface features
Prepare or update field sketches of marked utilities and survey designated marks (i.e., paint) accurately setting or using available survey control
Survey utility appurtenances, such as pedestals, handholes, water valves, water meters, utility poles, and other utility structures, utility information, and utility configurations that can be observed from the surface
Use well‑established standards to record survey measurements and descriptive data using data collectors and GPS
All work is outdoors, and crews work in all weather conditions

Qualifications
Surveying experience (2 yr. +)
Experience with TOPCON, Robotic Total Stations, GPS, TRIMBLE Survey Equipment
Ideal candidates will have six (6) months of survey experience (and/or the equivalent of additional training or courses in the field of surveying)
Ideal candidates will possess a thorough understanding of standard survey procedures and instruments
All‑weather year‑round outdoor work environment, with seasonal extreme heat index and wind‑chill factors
Associate's degree or higher in surveying technology/geomatics, civil engineering, or related field (bonus)
Experience Level: Expert Level
Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wilmington, NC.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
