Job Overview This role may be hybrid with one to two days in our Mentor, Ohio or Berea, Ohio facilities, or fully remote.

The Benefits & HR Specialist supports the HR function by administering employee benefits programs, providing frontline HR support as needed, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, and contributing to a positive employee experience. This role blends benefits administration with general HR responsibilities such as onboarding, employee support, and records management.

Benefits Administration – Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Administer employee benefit programs: medical, HSA, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement plans, and wellness offerings

Annual 5500 audit and filing

Canada Benefits Management, Renewal, and Deduction Maintenance

Serve as the primary contact for employees regarding benefits questions, eligibility, claims, and enrollment

Coordinate open enrollment, including communication, materials preparation, and system updates

Maintain accurate benefits records and ensure timely enrollment, changes, and terminations

Work with brokers, carriers, and vendors to resolve issues and enhance services

Assist with benefits billing, reconciliation, and auditing for accuracy

Provide analytical support to HR and Finance to create, prepare, and maintain HR/Benefits Reports

Benefits Website Updates

New Hire Orientation

ACA Management

New Hire/Termination Benefits Emails

Perks and Discounts Management

EOI Approvals

New Carrier Implementation and EDI Integration & File Feed Error Management

Employee Claims Advocation

Wellness Visit Tracking

HSA Enrollments

FMLA, Parental Leave and Pay, STD Pay

Verifications of employment

Compliance Reporting

Monthly benefits billing

Various benefits engagement activities

HR Support & Employee Services

Support employee onboarding and offboarding, including new hire setup, documentation, benefits enrollment, and exit processes.

Process unemployment claims.

Maintain HRIS data accuracy, process updates, and generate reports as needed.

Support HR programs such as performance management, engagement initiatives, training coordination, and compliance.

Support audits, reporting, and documentation needed for regulatory compliance (ACA, FMLA, COBRA, ERISA).

Coordinate problem resolution with Paylocity representatives as needed

Back-up on payroll processing

Requirements

2-3 years of benefits experience required

Experience with HRIS and benefits platforms strongly preferred

Microsoft Office (Word/Excel).

HR/Payroll software, Paylocity preferred

Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written). Must be able to communicate with both management and non-management associates.

Exceptional attention to detail required

Knowledge of benefit plan structures and HR processes.

Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment and manage deadlines.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
