Our Technical Operations team is full of aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities professionals, and supply chain teams that help make sure they’re well taken care of and ready to get our customers to their desired destinations. Job overview and responsibilities
Oversees the overhaul and repair of aircraft components, including composite and sheet metal structures, avionics, landing gear, and other related systems as well designated parts manufacturing. This role encompasses operations at both the San Francisco Maintenance Base and the Bush Intercontinental Airport Houston shops. Ensures adherence to all safety protocols, maintenance standards, and collective bargaining agreements. Leads strategic initiatives to manage work transitions in response to evolving fleet and product mixes, as well as capacity adjustments to align with United’s component repair and designated parts manufacturing requirements.
Directly manage component repairs at the executive level, inclusive of the creation and implementation of strategic and tactical production plans that maximize product yield for the airline at the lowest cost while ensuring a quality product
Develop and lead the implementation of strategies to improve production efficiency and throughput, to lead and drive continuous improvement initiatives, and to deliver on budget and service level commitments
Teams with Materials, Purchasing, Inventory Planning& Control, and Distribution/Storekeeping organizations to ensure that product required to support production requirements is readily available to enable the Component Overhaul and Repair organization to meet its scheduled output targets
Establishes component shop policies and procedures to meet all regulatory, technical, base, division and customer requirements/regulations and ensures the safety of all personnel.
Qualifications What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
Bachelor’s degree or 8+ years of equivalent experience
Aviation, Technical or related discipline
5 years of experience in aircraft/aerospace engineering or aircraft maintenance
Strong communications (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills; storytelling
Able to build relationships at all levels of an organization
Able to present to senior leadership team
Data analysis and interpretation
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
Master's degree
PMP certification, Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
A&P License
5+ years’ experience leading and managing a technically focused overhaul and repair or manufacturing organization
The base pay range for this role is $159,790.00 to $207,998.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
