About the Role MAI seeks a Director of Residential Life to lead and oversee a world‑class residential program that promotes safety, well‑being, belonging, and character formation. This leader serves as the senior steward of student life outside the classroom, ensuring that boarding is caring, structured, and supportive within a high‑performing environment. The Director is responsible for the holistic care of boarding students—including academic, physical, social, and emotional—while ensuring compliance with safeguarding and boarding standards. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Director helps shape institutional strategy and aligns residential life with MAI’s values and long‑term vision.

What You Will Do

Oversee the health, safety, well‑being, and character development of boarding students.

Build a positive, nurturing residential culture with engaging programs and activities.

Lead crisis response and uphold top‑tier safeguarding practices.

Supervise, support, and develop residential staff.

Manage housing operations, dorm procedures, and day‑to‑day logistics.

Communicate proactively with parents and cultivate strong relationships with families.

Contribute strategically as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Who You Are You are a warm, steady, and experienced residential life leader who is deeply committed to student well‑being and character development. You bring strong judgment, emotional intelligence, and the ability to lead a diverse boarding community with confidence and care. You communicate clearly, remain calm under pressure, and thrive in a role where you are visible, approachable, and fully engaged in campus life. You are highly organized, skilled at managing complex systems, and dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of safeguarding and student.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree (required); a Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, Student Affairs, or a related field is preferred.

5+ years of experience in residential life or student affairs, with strong experience in a boarding‑school environment.

Proven success leading residential staff, managing teams, and supporting professional development.

Demonstrated crisis‑management and safeguarding expertise.Ability to manage budgets, operations, and residential logistics effectively.

Willingness to live on campus and respond to after‑hours emergencies.
