
Employee Relations Specialist

Overview
Job Summary: The Employee Relations Specialist will serve as the primary point of contact for all matters pertaining to employee relations issues and concerns. A key role of the Employee Relations Specialist is that of liaison between employees, management, and Human Resources. This person is also responsible for monitoring various aspects of employee performance and well-being.
Responsibilities
Provide daily, face-to-face employee relations support to designated Production customers (management and employees) to help promote a positive, productive work environment.
Field employee complaints or concerns, as well as requests for information, guidance and counseling. Provide timely follow-up for resolution of these concerns or requests.
Serve as focal point of contact for daily employee call in/call off. Update system accordingly to ensure accuracy of attendance and Payroll records.
Conduct workplace investigations and escalate more complex investigations to the Legal Team.
Recommend solutions or appropriate course of action for addressing workplace issues and corrective action in accordance with company policy and applicable laws.
Prepare reports of the types and frequency of action taken.
Review company policy and provide timely advice and support to management on matters involving progressive discipline or termination.
For terminations, administer final paperwork and conduct exit interviews.
Collaborate with internal Human Resources (HR) and Legal support functions as needed.
Facilitate employee relations training & development as needed.
Stay informed of legal and regulatory requirements as they apply to the organization.
Contribute to employee relations best practice education and policy development.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Ability to read, understand and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
3-5 years of Human Resources or Employee Relations experience in a diverse, fast-paced work environment.
Experience in a cross-cultural work environment preferred; experience in an automotive manufacturing environment preferred.
Bachelor's degree. Emphasis in Human Resources Management or Labor Relations preferred
The employee is regularly required to stand or sit for long periods. Duties will include long periods of viewing a computer monitor.
Exceptional communication, interpersonal and listening skills.
Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Must be able to see both sides of an issue and develop mutually beneficial solutions.
Strong customer service orientation with excellent follow-up skills.
Demonstrated success establishing and maintaining credibility at all levels of the organization with Executives, Managers, first-line Supervisors and employees.
Demonstrated willingness and ability to collaborate effectively with others to diagnose and resolve workplace issues.
Ability to research and understand confidential materials/issues, salary information, organizational data, and performance reviews.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
