Multi‑Skilled Journalist – CBS19/KYTX (Tyler, Texas) We are seeking an experienced Multi‑Skilled Journalist to help maintain our tradition of superior reporting and newsgathering. The ideal candidate is a curious storyteller who can create unique, memorable, and well‑written stories and share them on all platforms with a mix of outstanding photography and unforgettable editing. A current driver’s license and ability to operate a news‑gathering vehicle are required.
Responsibilities
Perform authoritative, compelling live shots in developing stories or breaking news situations
Develop story ideas
Mine the community to find sources who will keep you informed about events and ideas in their areas of expertise
Identify, write, and produce stories within a specific framework
Research facts for credibility
Maintain and develop sources to elevate our reporting
Shoot, write, produce and edit on‑air and online content within deadlines
Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media (viewers' pictures, webcam interviews, etc.) to enhance stories
Use social media and digital tools to research, discover, and distribute content
Attend editorial meetings and offer story ideas daily
Write in an exciting, captivating, and authentic manner
Requirements
1–3 years of reporting experience preferred
Solid news judgment, strong communication skills, creativity, and ethical decision‑making
Strong writing and production skills
Experience with ENPS, EDIUS, and Axis graphics preferred
Organized and can work under constant deadlines
Calmly handle live breaking news situations and changing events
Proven social and digital content‑creation ability
Knowledge of East Texas is a plus
