Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled professional to join our team in developing cutting‑edge augmented reality optical systems. This role combines hands‑on prototyping with rigorous technical analysis, requiring someone who can seamlessly transition between building physical hardware, developing software applications, conducting precise optical measurements, and managing complex data systems. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast‑paced research environment where they'll transform conceptual designs into functional prototypes, validate performance through systematic testing, and communicate findings to drive product development decisions. Responsibilities
Develop AR applications using Unity or Unreal Engine for prototype testing and user studies
Create custom image viewer applications for 3rd party AR devices for benchmarking and competitive analysis
Build custom tools for automated testing, data collection, and system calibration
Troubleshoot hardware/software integration issues in prototype systems
Assemble AR optical prototypes using off‑the‑shelf and custom components including optics, displays, and sensors
Design and fabricate custom fixtures using CAD software
Conduct optical measurements to characterize display performance including luminance, color accuracy, MTF, distortion, and field of view
Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments such as photometers, colorimeters, spectrometers, and optical benches
Document system specifications and measurement methodologies with attention to repeatability and accuracy
Design and implement database schemas for storing experimental data, user study results, and metrology measurements
Build data pipelines to automate collection, validation, and storage of large datasets
Develop analysis scripts to process optical measurements and user study data
Create visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings to cross‑functional teams
Document and present findings to internal stakeholders with clarity and precision
Maintain excellent organizational practices and attention to detail in all record‑keeping and documentation
Skills
Proficiency in MATLAB, C#, C++, or Python for application development and scripting
Experience with Unity or Unreal Engine development
CAD software proficiency in SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or OnShape
Rapid prototyping techniques including 3D printing (FDM, SLA) and basic fabrication methods
Optical metrology and measurement techniques
Database design and management (SQL, NoSQL)
Data analysis using Python, MATLAB, or R
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Experience
2+ years of hands‑on experience building AR/VR systems or prototypes
Qualifications
Master's and/or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Human‑Computer Interaction, or related field
