Job Summary Come join our team at the Hilton Vancouver Washington, centrally located in the heart of Vancouver Washington with easy access to Portland International Airport. Featuring 226 rooms, the hotel is within walking distance to the gorgeous waterfront as well as to local bustling attractions such as the Vancouver Farmers Market (directly across the street from the hotel), making us an excellent base for both leisure and business travel. The team is currently seeking an Assistant Director of Catering and Events who will be responsible for the management of contracted groups and social event food/beverage and meeting room revenues and experiences, room block management, negotiation of supplier services. Ensuring event planner satisfaction while meeting and or exceeding department and individual revenue goals.
Responsibilities
Assist the Director of Catering and Events to achieve superior business results in guest service, team engagement, financial outcomes, leadership, talent development, and event operations.
Handle complex events, maintain existing relationships with corporate and social accounts, creatively design menus and events to maximize revenue and experience.
Ensure seamless turnover from sales to service and back to sales, upsell opportunities and enhancements to create outstanding events.
Document and coordinate events with Sales, other hotel departments and customers to ensure consistent high-level service throughout pre‑event, event, and post‑event phases.
Negotiate business through proposals and contracts to close business and act as the primary contact for event planners after turnover.
Support and act on behalf of the Director of Catering and Events in her/his absence.
Strategy: be globally aligned with the Americas Commercial Operations function while locally supporting superior business results.
Leadership: develop innovative, forward‑thinking team members; serve as a highly visible, participatory leader engaging with GM/EC, Sales, Catering and Events team members, external guests, and suppliers.
Culture: inspire high‑performing multicultural, multi‑generational teams; integrate Hilton’s values and mission; lead with Hilton culture; be an ambassador for customer service.
Talent: motivate and provide a work environment in which team members are productive; listen and respond to team member needs; manage group and interpersonal conflict effectively.
Events Operations Excellence: possess subject‑matter expertise and ensure standards; assist in proper use of event spaces; help develop and manage departmental budgets; assist in forecasting and cost reporting; ensure proper staffing; integrate current trends; participate in customer site inspections and assist sales as necessary.
Other duties as necessary based on business needs.
Travel: 10% of the time.
Qualifications
Minimum Education: High School Degree/GED.
Minimum Years of Experience: four (4) years Hospitality related experience at manager level; minimum three (3) years of experience in event services at manager level.
Management Experience: Project Management/Process Management.

Reading Comprehension – Understanding written sentences and paragraphs.
Oral Comprehension – Listening and understanding spoken information.
Basic Computer Skills – Using personal computers, word processing software, internet browsers.

Salary Salary range:
$90,000 - $93,000
Sales Incentive Plan Hilton offers a best‑in‑market SIP (Short‑Term Incentive Plan) to our Sales, Catering & Events teams to reward our employees for their contributions to our company’s financial success. The Plan includes a quarterly component worth 20% of bonus eligible earnings. The quarterly incentive may have multiple individually weighted objectives, meaning multiple opportunities to earn a payout. A revenue goal of $200k USD or greater is required in order for the payout potential for that objective to be uncapped. The payout as a percentage of BEE is capped at 60% at 250% achievement if and when the revenue goal for that objective is below $200k USD for the quarter.
