Overview
BJD Inc. seeks a Los Angeles based Men’s Denim and Men’s Sportswear Designer. Primary responsibilities will be centered around (but not limited to) Denim, Wovens Tops, and Knit Tops. The ideal candidate should be able to closely work with our Merchandiser and Sales team from idea conception, sampling, and buying. He/She must be able to demonstrate strong communication skills, recognize the needs each buyer brings to the table, and have a deep understanding of trends in the appropriate markets. Responsibilities
Identify emerging trends in designs, fits, washes, fabrications Collaborate closely with production team in bringing in new product samples within the deadlines given by management Create detailed tech packs and specs with precise measurements, stitch details, and labeling Give comments for Development and Production submits ranging from wash panels, quality, color, strikeoffs, fit, etc. Textile Design – creation, modification, and re-coloring. CAD (print) Design – creation, modification, and re-coloring. Trim Design – creation, modification, and re-coloring. Qualifications
15+ years working as a denim / men’s sportwear designer in the Fashion industry. Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop. A strong understanding of Denim Construction, Wash Techniques, Knit/Woven Construction, Development Leadtime, and Seasonal Products. Strong communication skills and a team first mentality. Experience in the off-price market is a major plus. Please include (in your resume or cover letter) a list of buyers you’ve worked with in the past.
