Role Overview We are seeking a high-performing

Outside Sales Representative

to develop new business and grow market share throughout the

Greater Detroit / Michigan territory .

This opening reflects a strategic emphasis on business development and measurable field activity. The outside sales function has been clearly defined: consistent prospecting, disciplined territory coverage, and strong in-person customer engagement.

Non-selling responsibilities such as day-to-day service escalations and logistical minutia are handled by internal support teams — allowing the outside sales team to focus squarely on growth and revenue generation.

This is

not

an entry-level role. We are seeking an experienced metals sales professional capable of independently managing a large industrial territory and producing results.

Flat-rolled carbon steel

High-strength and advanced strength steels

Pickled & oiled, coated, and specialty metals

Value-added processing services including slitting, cut-to-length, cold rolling, annealing, and related precision processing

Key Responsibilities

Prospect, qualify, and secure new customer relationships across Michigan

Drive territory revenue growth through new account acquisition and expansion

Maintain strong, visible market presence through frequent in-person sales calls

Present solutions aligned with customer manufacturing and supply chain needs

Partner with inside sales, purchasing, and operations teams while maintaining selling focus

Monitor competitive activity and customer trends

Participate in industry associations and regional events

Provide accurate pipeline reporting and forecasting

Operate with high professionalism, autonomy, and accountability

Ideal Candidate Profile

Proven outside sales hunter within metals distribution or processing

Experience selling flat-rolled steel, aluminum, or related industrial products

Familiarity with automotive OEMs and Tier supplier networks strongly preferred

Comfortable managing a large, industrial territory with high travel expectations

Motivated by performance-based KPIs and accountability

Prefers field selling over program/account management

Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills

Qualifications

5+ years of outside sales experience in metals distribution, processing, or related industrial B2B sector

Demonstrated ability to independently win new business and grow accounts

Strong understanding of steel markets, pricing dynamics, and value-added services

Willingness and ability to travel extensively within the Michigan territory

Base Salary: Competitive and experience-dependent

Incentive Compensation: Commission-based with meaningful upside
